The Breakers summer swim team will launch the 2014 season in June, with practices beginning the week of June 2. Dual meets will likely begin the week of June 9. Meets are most Tuesday and Thursday evenings through mid-July. The '14 season will conclude with the Midwest Conference Meet on July 19.
Founded in 1988, the O'Fallon (Illinois) Breakers is a summer-only swim team open to O'Fallon-area children 6 to 18 years of age. The team's purpose is to provide a competitive summer swim program for the youth of O'Fallon - while stressing teamwork, sportsmanship and having fun. The Breakers compete in the nine-team Midwest Swim Conference.
Practices will begin week of June 2. The Mock Meet/Social/ team pictures is tentatively scheduled for the evening of June 5. Dual meets will likely begin the week of June 9 - while the Midwest Conference Swim meet is scheduled for Saturday, July 19.
Team age-group records are posted on the site and updated after each meet. These records are measured in meters only - consistent with the O'Fallon Community (25-meter) Pool and home of the Breakers. New milestones achieved at other meter pools in the Conference (Highland and Freeburg) also qualify.
Coach Kim Eddy will return for her seventh season as Head Coach. Kim is also Head Coach of the O'Fallon Township High School swim teams. Coach Kim has guided the Breakers to Conference Meet Championships in each of the last three seasons (2011, 2012 and 2013) - as well as the regular season team championships in 2012 and 2013. Assistant Coaches for the 2014 season will be announced in May.
2014 registration for returning families will be early April at O'Fallon Township Center. Returning families will be notified of exact date (by email) in March. With a team limit of 130 swimmers, open registration (late April) is limited and open slots typically vary by age group...depending on number of returning swimmers in each group.
